OCR PDF

A scanned PDF is just pictures of pages. OCR reads the words on every page and adds them as an invisible text layer, so you can search, select and copy the text — while the pages look exactly as before.

Frequently asked questions

Will my pages look different?

No. The original page images are kept exactly as they are; the recognised text is added on top of them as an invisible layer.

Which languages are supported?

English and Hindi (Devanagari), or both together for mixed documents.

How accurate is it?

Clean scans at 300 dpi are usually recognised almost perfectly. Blurry, skewed or handwritten pages give weaker results; the confidence shown after the job tells you how sure the engine was.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The text recognition engine runs in your browser, so your document never leaves your device. The engine and language data (about 5 MB) are downloaded once and cached.

Can I just copy the text?

Turn on “Also save the text as TXT”, or use Image to text, which shows the recognised text with a copy button.
