Frequently asked questions

What does “Auto” do?

It encodes each image as WebP and as JPG at 80% quality and keeps the smaller file. Images with transparency stay WebP so the transparency is kept.

Are large photos resized?

Photos with a side longer than 2560 pixels are scaled down to 2560 pixels, which is enough for full-screen display. Set your own limit with “Limit dimensions”.

Do all browsers show WebP?

Yes, every current browser supports WebP. If your browser cannot create WebP files, JPG is used instead.
